Gubbio Doc Fest – Direzioni ostinate e contrarie

The eleventh edition of the Gubbio DOC Fest – Direzioni Ostinate e Contrarie will be held from August 3 to 31, 2025.

The city of Gubbio will host extraordinary musical and cultural events in Piazza Grande and other locations in the historic center.

The Festival

The Gubbio DOC Fest – Direzioni Ostinate e Contrarie was created to celebrate the memory of Riccardo Monacelli, a young man from Gubbio who passed away at the age of twenty in 2011. His friends and family immediately decided to honor his memory and his great passion for music with an annual concert, Ricky’s Friends for Gubbio, which has featured artists from the surrounding area on stage in the city’s main square.

After the initial editions, the Insieme Association, founded to organize the concerts but which has also launched other charitable initiatives over time, decided to create a culturally significant event for the city, which would help it gain a prominent position in the regional and national tourism landscape.
In the belief that culture is a driver of growth, not only regionally but also socially, for audiences of all ages, the Gubbio D.O.C. Fest – Direzioni Ostinate Contrarie was founded in 2014. Over the years, it has become one of the city’s most significant events, achieving national prominence, with the participation of leading figures from the worlds of music, culture, and food and wine (Negrita, Francesco De Gregori, Enrico Ruggeri, Afterhours, Carl Brave, Antonella Ruggero, Michele Placido, Luis Bacalov, Vittorio Sgarbi, Andrea Scanzi, Giorgione, Andy Luotto, Riccardo Cotarella).

The program features music, but also much more: theater performances, exhibitions, conferences, nature excursions, and food and wine.
